6 Father’s Day Activities Your Dad Will Appreciate

Show your Dad (or grandfather, or step-dad!) how much you care by planning some activities that he will truly love. This day is all about him. So, make sure you keep his tastes in mind when planning the day. Your Dad will truly appreciate that you have taken the time to remember what he enjoys most. Plus, you needn’t just do something on Father’s Day itself – there is so much to do in the month of June.

1. For the Dad who loves comedy:
The classic comedy show, Defending the Caveman, will be playing at Parker’s Comedy Club in Johannesburg, until 25th June 2017. This is the longest-running solo comedy show in South African history. Whether he’s seen it five times or has never even been to the theatre, if your Dad has a funny bone he will surely enjoy this show.

2. For the Dad who appreciates wine:
The beautiful and scenic Vaal River is the backdrop to the Vaal River Wine Festival, taking place on Saturday 24th June 2017. Treat Dad to a day out and play designated driver so he can enjoy the delicious wines on offer. The day even includes a wine tasting on the river with a cruise!

3. For the Dad who enjoys Shakespeare:
On Sunday 11 June 2017, the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town, will be screening a performance of the classic Shakespeare play, Measure for Measure, which is an exploration of the themes of social justice.

4. For the Dad who loves to braai:
Why not buy Dad a gift box filled with everything he needs to be the ultimate Braai Master? Order one from YuppieChef and plan a day for Dad to show off his skills and his new gadgets.

5. For the Dad who loves the outdoors:
Don’t let the cooler weather scare you away! Bundle up your best sleeping bag and head into the great outdoors on a camping weekend away with Dad.

6. For the Dad who loves to fish:
If camping isn’t his thing, why not book a fishing weekend away? South Africa is home to some of the most magnificent fishing spots. So, you can take your pick from spots across the entire country. Cape Point (Western Cape), Dullstroom (Mpumalanga) and Shelley Beach (KwaZulu-Natal) are just a handful of the top fishing destinations.
