What is TRA Gap Cover?

Many people have medical aid in order to give them the peace of mind that if something goes wrong, they are 100 percent covered. Unfortunately, this is not always true – which is why you need Gap Cover to ensure that you don’t receive a large and unexpected hospital bill.

TRA Gap Cover is where the shortfall between what service providers charge and what your medical aid scheme will cover (for in-hospital expenses) is covered. It takes away the financial stress incurred after an operation.

However, it is important for individuals to realise that Gap Cover will not cover something if it is excluded from your Medical Aid (i.e cosmetic surgery). Gap Cover only covers approved specialists and procedures. It is extremely important to also check what exactly your Gap Cover does and does not cover.

TRA has four different Gap Cover options to choose from. These are: Basic Cover 300 (Starting at R99 per month), Vital Cover Plus (Starting at R180 per month), Super Cover Plus(Starting at R227 per month), and Absolute Cover Plus (Starting at R390 per month).

Make sure you are stress free and have peace of mind when it comes to medical cover. To find out more, visit the TRA Gap Cover product page here , or contact your intermediary.
