Rare Disease Day 2019

Rare Disease Day 2019

Rare disease day is celebrated on the 28th of February every year. It is a day to bring awareness and support to Individuals who have a rare disease. This year will be the 12th edition of the awareness campaign.

The theme for the 2019 Rare disease day is “ Bridging health and social care”. The life of a rare disease patient and their family members mostly consists of: Taking medicines, Doctor appointments, continuous tests, physical therapy and having to use specialist equipment. Having to manage that life aside the normal day to day routines, such as work, school, and other family commitments can be very challenging.

The slogan of this year’s campaign: is Show Your Rare. Show You Care.

How you can get involved:

Take part in the social media campaign #ShowYouRare.

This can be done by following the steps below:

1. Paint your face with bright colours

2. Pose for a selfie

3.Post it on social media using the hashtags #ShowYourRare and #RareDiseaseDay
