World Environment Day 2018

World Environment Day 2018

World Environment Day has been celebrated on the 5th of June every year since 1974. It is a day to create awareness about the effects that humans are having on the environment.

According to the UN, World Environment Day is their most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment.

The theme for this year’s campaign is “Beating Plastic Pollution”. There is an overwhelming amount of plastic polluting our oceans and land, which is not only harmful to humans, but also for the animals who have to live in these polluted conditions. It is causing them to suffer.

There are many companies, restaurants, and shops who are trying to play their part in trying to transition into a plastic-free environment. However, it is still a massive problem which does not have enough support to make a real difference.

How can you get involved in World Environment Day?

There are 2 ways to get involved:

Show the world
You can do this by sharing the resources found online at News and Stories . It is also important to use the two hashtags which are #WorldEnvironmentDay and #BeatPlasticPollution.

Plan to take part
This can be done by getting your organization ready to take part in World Environment Day. Whether you’re a school, government, non-profit, or business, you can get the resources for an event here: Latest

If you are unable to plan an event, try to find one to be a part of or spread the word as much as you can. By changing the habits you already have with regards to plastic, you can make a small difference, which is still a way in which you can help as an individual.
