Closing The Gap: Empowering Women’s Health Through Gap Cover With TRA

Closing The Gap: Empowering Women’s Health Through Gap Cover With TRA

As South Africa proudly celebrates Women’s Month and all the powerful females our country holds, there is no better time to shine a spotlight on the fundamental topic of women’s health.

While significant progress has been made over the years in promoting gender equality and addressing women’s unique healthcare needs, there tend to still be gaps that need to be bridged along the way.

One innovative solution that is making a substantial impact is the emerging popularity of gap cover, even more particularly products such as female cancer cover as offered by TRA. With the importance of female health & wellness front and centre, we aim to ensure that women countrywide receive the comprehensive healthcare they deserve.

The Gender Health Gap: A Persistent Challenge

In an ever-changing society that moves closer toward values of inclusivity, progress, and growth, it is unfortunate that the gender health gap continues to persist.

Women’s health entails a complex system of processes, functions and check-ups that call for a multi-faceted approach to ensuring optimal health and wellness. With women facing health challenges and changes that are specific to females in particular, this requires specialised care and consults to meet those exact needs.

These changes vary depending on the various life stages women are at, calling for different attention, frequency and treatment as required throughout their lives. From puberty and the start of reproductive health to menopause and hormonal fluctuations that occur on a daily basis, these changes all demand specialised care.

However, with a variety of factors coming into play, such as socioeconomic disparities and gaps in health insurance coverage, women can, at times, find themselves facing financial barriers to accessing the care they need when it counts the most.

Empowering Women’s Health with TRA Gap Cover

TRA has long recognised the pressing need to address the inequalities and dire need for female-focused health care services to be covered. With the aim of supporting women along their healthcare journeys, TRA understands that traditional medical aids might not cover all the costs associated with women’s unique health needs.

This can ultimately lead to unexpected expenses that can place a burden on individuals and their families, adding extra strain. Gap cover also brings with it a range of benefits, and with TRA in particular, this is something our valued clients reap the benefits from. To learn more about the benefits of TRA gap cover, explore our rundown on the topic.

Women’s Health: The Need For Gap Cover

Besides the intricately specific product of female cancer cover, TRA’s gap cover is a great addition to any medical aid scheme for women looking at ensuring every aspect of their health is covered.

Although certain limitations and exclusions do still apply, having gap cover in place can further safeguard a woman’s health by ensuring they can receive the in-hospital treatments and procedures they require without entirely breaking the bank. With TRA gap cover, South African women can look forward to the peace of mind that comes with:

Bridging the Financial Gap

With healthcare expenses racking up and escalating rather quickly, certain treatments or procedures specific to women can sometimes be the tipping point of the scale. By having gap cover in place, it somewhat acts as a safety net, aiming to step in to cover the shortfalls left by traditional medical aids and what they will or will not cover.

With gap cover, women can help ensure that they can focus on their health and well-being without the added stress of exorbitant bills, allowing what matters most to always be put first.

TRA aims to alleviate certain costs, where applicable, due to certain limitations and exclusions and help our female clients receive the care they require. This helps ensure that women can access the full spectrum of care they need without worrying about financial strain. This approach not only empowers women to prioritise their health but also promotes early detection and proactive management of health issues.

Supporting Women at Every Stage of Life

From the blossoming years of emerging adolescence to the wisdom-filled days of menopause, TRA gap cover is here for it all. Being strategically designed to support women at every stage of life, we aim to empower our female clients no matter what they are going through.

With coverage that evolves to meet changing health needs, women can rest assured that their healthcare journey is backed by a reliable gap cover partner.

TRA Female Cancer Cover

As a trusted gap cover provider, TRA offers a specialised product of female cancer cover to provide niche coverage to our female clients. Not only does this offer the added peace of mind of knowing their health is covered when they need it to be.

How It Works

Upon a cancer diagnosis that is confirmed, TRA Female Cancer Cover pays out a pre-determined lump sum to cover all related cancer care that would be required. Naturally, this varies from patient to patient, depending on the type of cancer and the treatment required. Furthermore, depending on the policy in place, the coverage will differ accordingly.

With a Female Cancer Cover Policy in place, the spouse/common-law partner of the cancer patient also qualifies for the optional ‘For Him’ Benefit offered by TRA. This benefit provides a pre-determined lump sum of money upon diagnosis for authorised male cancers. It must be noted this is not a stand-alone product and can only be a supplementary offer.

Types Of Cancer We Cover

Our Female Cancer Cover policies provide cover for the following female cancers: cervical cancer, breast cancer, vaginal cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, bladder cancer & cancer of the fallopian tubes.

How Does Female Cancer Cover Help?

Female Cancer Cover steps in to assist you upon a confirmed diagnosis of certain female cancers (such as those above) by paying out a pre-determined lump sum of money to be used accordingly. This ultimately has the aim to alleviate financial costs whilst also easing out the emotional and physical load of navigating such a chared time.

Across the country, many medical aid schemes do unfortunately not offer comprehensive female cancer benefit that covers cancer by default. With this in mind, TRA cancer cover offers a world of difference in ensuring that the required treatment and path forward are easier to navigate.

Please note: This product is separate to Gap Cover.
